The Bombay High Court at Goa examining the roles of the authorities and enforcement agencies in the Arpora nightclub illegalities and fire tragedy made it clear that the ecosystem protecting the rot that has crept in must be dismantled. The winter session of our Assembly started with the Governor’s reportedly two-hour speech lauding good governance, good policing, quick detection of crime etc. did not include any transparency/accountability of government on issues agitating the public and protesting members were escorted out. To bring some sanity in today’s world, we have to start at the very top. It is imperative that all nations respect the United Nations and go by the Charter and international law as decreed and agreed to by all nations.Times have changed and reforms are overdue. Trump is acting like the Emperor of the world, with state piracy, kidnapping of an elected head of State and taking over by force sovereign nation’s assets. The International Court is horrified about mounting violence against protestors in Iran but is impotent to implement its writ. The American Congress needs to curb their President from running amuck, bully weaker nations to impose his will unchecked.
