The EDC is planning to acquire 2 lakh square metres of Comunidade land on Kadamba Plateau to start another Patto Plaza type ‘development’. What will the EDC pay the Comunidade for the land? Comunidade land cannot be sold but leased out for 50 per cent of rent accruable from the leased built-up areas. Without this land what will be the income to the EDC? Nil. What kind of negotiation is being done? Robbing Peter to give Paul is not morally correct. With a grand fanfare, the EDC paid out dividends of Rs 84 lakh and another Rs 10 crore to the government. The Rs 84 lakhs came from the interest on the acquisition monies deposited with the EDC by all corporations. What kind of ‘magical’ financing is this?
No party has been fighting for the Comunidade - RGP, AAP or the new faces. Why? RGP is making noises in the panchayats instead of the TCP, the legislature? Why? True colours are showing. The attorneys of the Comunidade must step in. The courts cannot agree to this kind of acquisition.
