Recently, the Directorate of Education deleted an entire chapter of NCERT Std VII after objections were raised by the Indian Medical Association (Goa) that doctors were shown in poor light only wanting to make profits.
In Maharashtra, 2 NGOs conducted a State-wide survey of 2579 Covid patients and found that many private hospitals overcharged them for treatment.
The survey covered 200 talukas in 34 districts where 95 per cent of those surveyed opted for private hospitals and 50.2% succumbed.
While the rates are fixed by the government -- the highest being Rs 9000 per day for ICU with ventilator -- the survey revealed the average daily charges were Rs 21,215.
There are several other studies done during the pandemic alone. The Education department should at least insert these surveys and left it to the students to draw conclusions.
