At last year’s Goa Assembly elections most of the parties poured in a lot of money, with the BJP topping the list. All the parties are answerable and must reveal the source of all that ill-gotten wealth they spent on those elections. The people are entitled to know as to how the BJP which was struggling in its finances while in the Opposition is now so cash rich. We can now even see office bearers of the BJP moving in plush cars. The Election Commission has miserably failed to keep a check on huge money being doled out during elections. We have seen it all during last year’s assembly elections. And the BJP has spent a fortune later to buy those eight Congress MLAs. Where did all that money come from? The BJP has a lot to explain more than any other party. The Election Commission has lost all its autonomy with it being geared and run by the BJP. This is the factual position as elections today are no longer free and fair. They have infact become meaningless.
