With days to go before Feb 14 polls, if the voters decide to opt for economic benefits, then the Trinamool Congress with at least 3 lakh womenfolk registered for the Griha Laxmi scheme in which one lady in the every household will get Rs. 5,000 per month as an inflation relief, will attract a large following. TMC has also promised a Yuva Shakti scheme in which a collateral free loan at 4% interest will be provided to youth for those between 18 and 45 years of age and this scheme will also draw youth towards the TMC. The Aam Aadmi Party has also promised several economic benefits for the electorate and may also draw supporters towards it. The BJP has several social welfare schemes, but the amounts offered are less compared to what the TMC has promised. Should the electorate choose economics over traditionally being loyal to the other parties, it will be the Congress that will suffer the most. However, if traditional loyalty prevails, then Congress in particular will stand to benefit. With inflation being so high encompassing all consumer products such as fruits and vegetables, meats as well as high petrol prices and high LPG prices, the electorate could well opt for the politics of economics.
