Russia is continuing its onslaught against Ukraine laying siege to many cities. NATO and USA have imposed sanctions but are acting as observers without taking any action militarily.
An estimated 18,000 Indians were in Ukraine before the start of the war of which some were students. Majority of them have been evacuated by the central government by sending Air India aircrafts. The effort of the central government is commendable but it could have acted much earlier.
According to reports around 1000 Indians are still in Ukraine and are at the mercy of heavy shelling. Among them are a few Goans mostly students that stranded.
It would be in the fitness of things if the Goan NRI Commission takes up the matter with the central government/external affairs ministry and ensures the safe repatriation of our stranded Goan medical students from Ukraine.
