Last week a few Siolcars faced a problem with their daily supply of pao, the traditionally baked bread. For three days this problem went on as the bread did not taste as usual.
On complaining, the bread supplier admitted that there was a problem and they thought it was to do with the yeast quality but nothing changed. The owner finally changed the flour and the bread was normal.
Such incidents could lead to health problems for a consumer. Who will be responsible? The Food and Drug Administration had issued a circular to all bakers to display the details of the bakery and their registration number on the box or basket. But till date the FDA has not followed up to check on this.
It would be advisable if the FDA and Consumer and Civil Supply Department start surprise raids in villages to save the consumers from any future health issues.
