A farmer by profession, late Coelho had been a panchayat member of Saligao Panchayat for 25 years and served as sarpanch on two occasions.
According to Saligao Panch Deepak Rane, Coelho was a bachelor and is survived by his mother, two brothers and a sister.
“He was a nice person who would mix with everybody, particularly with the Hindu community. He used to attend each and every gram sabha. The Saligao panchayat has lost an honest and hard working panch member. He worked tirelessly for the development of Saligao village,” said Rane.
