Forcing kids to school in scorching April?

The decision by the Goa government and the education department to keep schools open in April, the peak of summer, is shocking. While people struggle with the heat, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, who oversees education, seems to be doing nothing useful. The BJP government is allowing builders to cut down trees, forests, and mountains”natural resources that provide shade and protection from the heat. Meanwhile, summer is the only time children can enjoy activities like swimming classes and summer camps. Yet, politicians who have no understanding of this are trying to decide what is best for our children.

Goa is already facing a water shortage due to the rising number of outsiders in the State. CM Sawant, we are well aware of how qualified your MLAs are, so please don’t talk nonsense. Parents from both North and South Goa do not want schools to run in April. Summer is also the season for enjoying our local fruits. With heatwaves already beginning, we must protect our children from direct sunlight. If schools must open in summer, let them be for politicians and MLAs who haven’t even passed SSC but still want to tell us what to do.
