It may be assumed that circumstances birth changes but the chaos and bedlam we are witnessing in today's State politics is puke worthy -- party hopping, name calling, power at all costs attitude is not what Goans gave up their lives and dreams for liberating Goa from the Portuguese.
Everyone was glad when Goa was restored to indigenous rule, it was the era of Goa first, Goans first, Goa above all else. Regretfully today's politicians are more concerned about their own development.
Goan netas have lost their moral compass with sex scandals, labour scams, sale of government posts to the highest bidder, endemic corruption in civic bodies and other such being the norm rather than the exception.
The politics of principles has been rudely shoved aside for the politics of opportunism, convenience and selfishness, we haven't really achieved liberation in the truest sense of the term.
Politicians need to show less avarice for power and pelf, they should think of Goa's interests first and work towards it, the rest will automatically fall into place.
The time is ripe for another struggle for liberation, spearheaded by all those whose hearts truly beat for Goa.
