Speaker Ramesh Tawadkar has reportedly accused Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude of graft in matters dealing with disbursement of grants under his department. Tawadkar has also said that Gaude was involved in misappropriation of funds and due to which has rightly demanded for an immediate inquiry.
Govind Gaude on the other hand has claimed his innocence but has said that he was open to any inquiry into the issue of utilisation of funds of the Art and Culture Department.
Some say that Gaude has been accused by the Speaker at the behest of the Pramod Sawant led BJP government to somehow blacklist and to remove him from his post to finally accommodate another former Congress turncoat.
Well, politicians holding high positions in most foreign countries are known for immediately resigning after coming under fire from leaders of opposition parties and after being accused even with the slightest of accusation.
Unfortunately, politicians in our country are known for not stepping down but holding on to their positions despite facing multiple accusations of corruption.
If Gaude is really a man of strong principles, he should immediately resign to facilitate a fair inquiry to bring out the whole truth. If he is still in power there are chances he could sabotage the probe.
