Vasco MLA Carlos Almeida recently returned to the party he left in 2022, when his ticket was given to Krishna Daji Salkar due to health concerns. Now, with improved health, he praises the Goa Chief Minister and central government for development efforts.
Previously, Almeida, having won the previous election, joined Congress after being denied a ticket. During his tenure, he addressed issues like the neglected Bus stand in Vasco, which he later repaired.
Similarly, two prominent North Goa leaders, Laxmikant Parsekar and Utpal Parrikar, are also considering rejoining the party. Parsekar, a BJP founding member during Congress's rule, worked tirelessly to establish BJP's presence. Meanwhile, Parrikar, having contested independently in 2022, now sees an opportunity to return.
As elections draw near, more leaders are expected to return to the BJP fold. The allure of power and position often drives politicians to seek majority party affiliation.
In the political arena, differences are set aside as individuals strive for influence and relevance.
