Recently, a 3-member committee probing the ‘dark hour’ deaths at GMC submitted its report after an inordinate delay. They failed to address many points and did not do justice to their job. Looks like their objective was a cover up.
They failed to check the trolley system used for both medical air and oxygen. All manifolds have redundancy meaning that if one system fails another kicks in with no interruption. There was no mention of this availability.
The panel, however, congratulated GMC and Scoop Oxygen for enhancing the supply. More pertinent issues like checking the purity of oxygen and enhancing the supply at crucial time were not addressed.
It was reported that the panel also recommended that LMO plants were not required because of prohibitive costs and meagre demand. In the event of a third wave where do Goans stand?
With elections round the corner, it needs to be seen if any party addresses this issue or will the leaders be just paper tigers.
