Unemployment rate| rising in India

There is a major concern over jobless growth in the country, as unemployment rate has reportedly gone up. Some of the welfare agenda is yet to be fully implemented.

Though India is one of the fastest growing economies, employment generation remains a major concern. The economic survey had acknowledged that employment growth had been sluggish. Post-demonetisation most of the workers and employees were jobless and now due to the ongoing pandemic it has dampened even more.

The government should take steps to encourage more employment opportunities for the youth. Middleclass people particularly the youth are looking for jobs and at present a large percentage of them are jobless.

Government cannot tax citizens claiming that they can afford to pay.  With agrarian distress prevailing in the country, prices of fuel, LPG and essential items is rising even as the economic growth rate projections are being scaled down.

The vision of development has to be worked upon and tangible results needs to be produced.
