The influx of Indian and foreign tourists is undoubtedly harming Goa’s beauty and its unique blend of Portuguese and Indian architecture, a legacy from its time as a Portuguese colony.
What Goa needs now is comprehensive development. This includes not only infrastructure like roads, bridges, and playgrounds but also job creation. The government should attract pollution-free industries to provide good jobs for Goan youth, preventing them from migrating to the Gulf or Europe for better opportunities.
Additionally, the government must crack down on drug traffickers, who have alarmingly reached some schools and beaches in North Goa. This issue, along with problems like land grabbers, illegal hill cutting, and illegal dumping of garbage, poses serious risks to public health and safety. Without urgent action, Goa risks losing its charm and turning into a concrete jungle, exacerbating climate change.
