Goa University has suspended an assistant professor pending an inquiry into an alleged question paper theft. On Sunday, social activists and NSUI members filed a complaint, accusing him of helping a student cheat. ABVP activists protested on Monday, demanding an inquiry and suspension. Vice-Chancellor Harilal B Menon said a two-member committee would submit a report within 48 hours. However, I believe this inquiry will lead nowhere, and the professor will be reinstated. Instead of a superficial probe, the university must take strict action to uphold academic integrity.
