It is sad to see that Goa is not as it was before. All this started when Goans began making their Portuguese passports and moving out. One can understand that some go for employment, but when entire families migrate then problems arise.
Thousands of families have migrated from cities like Margao, Fatorda, Curchorem, Quepem, Mapusa, Panaji, Vasco, Dabolim and in the bargain have also sold their land and houses. This has brought in outsiders who are buying land and staying in flats and high rise buildings.
Several of these outsiders are here in Goa for the last 25-30 years and now proudly call themselves Goans. They have all the documents to prove that they are sons of the soil. Many have also started their own business
Presently, Goans are up in arms against the three linear projects. But as one can see, only a few thousands come out and protest against the injustice meted out to them.
If only all our thousands of Goan brothers and sisters were here in Goa, the situation would definitely be different.
