When one is promoted to a higher position, we should preserve our ethics.
There are many who don't mix professional careers with change in behaviour. In this modern world, humanity, good behavior, calm and collective nature is very important.
Being a good human being is important and can get you all those intangibles like love, pride, friendship, self-respect, a feeling of “steadiness” in life.
On the flip side, what some fail to realise is that, a job can be lost for unfortunate reason, status may evaporate and money disappears then all that is left is integrity and respect earned with ethics, morals and values that are built on kindness, compassion and thoughtfulness.
It is, however, important to note that not all good educated, high profile individuals can be rated as good human beings. Uneducated and those with average jobs could be far better and so, we should not salute the former and neglect the later.
To revisit what Kofi Annan said, “We may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race. We all share the same basic values.”
