Parents of students marched to Directorate of Education, Porvorim on Monday to protest the decision to reopen schools from April. As per the NEP policy the schools were planned to start from April and then summer holidays in May. However many parents feel that decision was taken without consulting parents, PTAs and school children. Many parents have objected to the said timetable as there is intense heat during the period and schools are not equipped with infrastructure required with drinking water facility to prevent dehydration in students and teachers. The new education policy though adopted by some states , Goa is not really ready for it. Many feel it's stressful as there is no vacation and break from studies. The entire issue is now with DOE to go ahead or not. Now that there is objection to the same the Department and government may have to sit and rethink over it and withdraw the said plan. It's ultimately teachers, parents and students who are going to be affected. So the state government should take decision in favour of them so as to ensure smooth functioning of schools and curriculum of students.
