Carl Sagan, one of America's foremost astronomers and planetary scientists was perhaps speaking of modern day India and of how we have surrendered our freedom to the neo-fascist charlatans . He said," One of the saddest lessons of history is this: If we've been bamboozled by lies long enough we tend to reject any evidence of the bamboozle. We're no longer interested in finding out the truth, the bamboozle has captured us." Once you give a charlatan power over you, you never get it back. We as a nation today hate others who speak the truth, in fact the act itself is grounds for being charged with treason. George Orwell in his seminal work '1984' said, "in a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act." Orwell's quote emphasizes that when lies and disinformation are widespread speaking the truth becomes a potentially dangerous act. But it is only by challenging the dominant narrative and exposing falsehood that established power structures can be disrupted and change sparked. The quote serves as a reminder of integrity and the need to resist manipulation and control.
