It has been a considerable amount of time since both Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister Vishwajit Rane assured the public of action against controversial mega projects and other environmentally damaging housing developments.
These include high-profile projects such as those in Sancoale (Bhutani), Reis Magos (DLF), and the Zuari Mega Land Scam. Despite their assurances, there has been no significant update or visible action from the Goa government to revoke or address these projects, which appear to be in blatant violation of legal and environmental standards.
This prolonged silence raises serious concerns. Were these statements merely a tactic to provide Goans with a false sense of assurance, rather than a genuine commitment to protect Goa's environment and uphold the rule of law?
The Chief Minister and the TCP Minister should provide a transparent and detailed update on the status of these controversial projects. The people of Goa deserve accountability and decisive action to safeguard their state's ecological integrity and cultural heritage.
