The Congress government in Telangana has redesigned the statue of Telangana Thalli, the revered "Mother of Telangana."
Significant changes include altering the saree color to green, removing traditional elements such as the floral Bathukamma festival representation, the crown, and jewelry.
Additionally, the redesign incorporates the Abhaya Hastam gesture, symbolizing the Congress party.
This redesign has sparked controversy, with Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) worker Juluru Gaurishankar filing a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Telangana High Court. He argued that the modified statue hurts the cultural sentiments of the people of Telangana.
The BRS has criticized Chief Minister Reddy, accusing him of undermining Telangana's identity and warning of further erosion of the state's cultural heritage under Congress governance.
