Yoga at the global level

June 21 is celebrated globally as World Yoga Day, an initiative led by India to share yoga’s profound benefits with the world.

Recently, Liechtenstein proposed December 21 as the World "Day of Meditation," a resolution unanimously approved by the UN General Assembly, as shared by India’s UN representative, Parvatneni Harish.

Meditation and yoga, integral to Indian culture, offer vital tools to combat modern stress. Meditation promotes mental peace and addresses both physical and psychological challenges.

Physically, it lowers blood pressure, reduces anxiety, alleviates headaches, insomnia, and joint pain, and boosts serotonin production, improving mood and immunity.

Psychologically, it enhances happiness, intuition, concentration, and mental clarity while diminishing fear and promoting inner peace.

Over the past decade, yoga has transformed into a global movement. Millions worldwide embrace its practices to achieve holistic well-being, making it an enduring gift of India to humanity.
