Govt should shut offices for week during Chovoth

The State government officially gives a two-day public holiday every year for all its employees working in different govt departments on account of Ganesh Chaturthi. Unfortunately, most of the govt employees (right from higher officers, lower staff to sweepers and peons) are seen bunking work after the completion of the above mentioned two-day holiday period and casually staying back home for almost a week or so without even putting their leave applications & by giving their own silly excuses/justifications, resulting in total breakdown in the functioning of most govt departments. I think that the government should take (which I doubt it will ever) a very serious note of the above mentioned fact and henceforth try to recruit people equally from all communities without playing  communal politics to keep all its government departments/offices fully operational, especially during such week-long  festivals like Ganesh Chaturthi. If not, the government should shut all its government departments/offices for one whole week during the annual Ganesh Chaturthi festival every year instead of forcing poor people  (including some senior citizens coming from far away interior places) from making frequent trips unnecessarily by running most of it's government departments nearly empty.
