The announcement by Chief Minister Pramod Sawant to regularise 1 lakh houses built before 1972, has come like a bolt from the blue to all Goans. It is simply shocking that such a decision has been taken by the Chief Minister when his ministers keep telling Goans not to sell their land to non-Goans, and on the other hand he goes all out to regularise houses of migrants built illegally on Alvara and Bhatkar lands. Why these double standards and back stabbing? Secondly, questions remains as to how were these houses built illegally, if not with the connivance of the local authorities and politicians for monetary and political gains?
