Recently Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he visited Margao clearly said that St Francis Xavier is the Goencho saib of the people of Goa. Now during the assembly session Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai raised the subject in the state Assembly saying that the facade of Igreja Se Nossa Senhora De Saudde (1560) church is 400 yrs old and the frontispiece of Sancoale church still present on the site is property that belongs to the church authorities. As a proof Vijay had also submitted the old documents along with the Portuguese time stamps. I really appreciate the courage of a Goan Hindu MLA Vijai who has well explained the truth about the Sancoale church. None of the Christians MLAs had guts like Vijay to bring the fact in the Assembly house. Yes, Goans have been living in harmony for years ago.This is a lesson to Subash Velingkar and others who have a problem with Christians and Portugal. Remember that we Christians are the citizens of Goa, India and if you have any problems with Portugal then better go to Portugal and fight but don't trouble your own people.
