Is women's reservation another poll gimmick?

Since Independence we have seen women's represention in the Parliament and Assembly is wafer thin and in Goa assembly we see now MLAs wives ruling the roost may be due to many reasons and because of that the slogan coined by BJP 'Beti Bachao Beti Padao'.  There have been many efforts, debates and controversies around women's reservation bill which was passed in Rajya Sabha in 2010, this women's reservation bill seeds were sown by the Rajiv Gandhi and Narasimha Rao governments but didn't move forward. Issues relating to ensuring greater representation of women in politics had been discussed even prior to Independence, and in the Constituent assembly. In India the issue got momentum only in 1970s.  If the women reservation bill is passed, will it be implemented in 2024 general elections ? If it is not implemented in the 2024 general elections, then the people of the country will say that it is just another poll gimmick just ahead of the general elections only to woo the voters. The elections results will answer by the people's verdict through ballot.  So let's keep our fingers crossed and let people decide which party they want NDA or INDIA.
