The heavy traffic, lack of road discipline, not following traffic rules, scarce parking space in cities, recklessness of some drivers and slackness of an overstretched police force does not augur well for safety! At the busy Porvorim traffic light junction near O Coqueiro, I observe traffic speeding up at the yellow light in order to beat the red light!
The zebra crossing markings have faded and the stop line has disappeared! This is extremely hazardous for pedestrians crossing. Many times the lights are not working and traffic police are absent or those directing traffic are very casual. We are indeed a very undisciplined nation with selfish individuals having wrong habits! Just observe the defacing of walls, street light poles and unauthorized hoardings, obliterating traffic signs and dirtying the scenery!
