The lecture basis teachers (LBT) in the higher secondary schools after having the same qualifications as the regular teachers or even more and engaging the same number of lectures; to be precise 26 to 28 lectures per week, does all the other activities such examinations, supervision, extra classes and even participate in extracurricular activities of students such as tours and field trips and they remain in the institution for the whole five and a half hours as regular teachers. In spite of this hard work they are paid a meagre salary of ₹ 250 per lecture and maximum cap of 105 lectures per month only, the monthly salary of the lecture basis teachers comes to roughly ₹ 26,250 if the teacher engages 105 lectures otherwise it will be less with which it is impossible to survive for a family compared to the regular (permanent) teachers who get a pay packet of roughly around ₹80,000 and above. The government should make a sincere effort to raise their salaries. It is sheer shame that teachers who mould students to be the country's future are treated so shabbily.
