Over the years, elected politicians from various governments have brought factories and industries into villages, going against the wishes of Goans and effectively ruining the beauty of our State. Have these politicians not turned our once peaceful, less populated villages, such as Tivim-Karaswada, Verna, Madkai, Pilerne, and even Saligao, into migrant-heavy areas resembling mini-Maharashtras, Karnatakas, Jharkhands, and UPs? They’ve done this by setting up factories and industries with low-paying jobs, all in the name of providing employment to locals from these very areas.
I believe the true reason politicians continue to bring large industries into these villages is not to help local residents, despite their promises. Instead, they are bringing in outsiders to work for low wages, using them to build their own vote banks across Goa.
The so-called ‘Liberation’ has turned out to be a big boon for the politicians. It has allowed them to fill their pockets by selling off our once-beautiful, peaceful villages to outsiders, all in exchange for their votes during elections. Meanwhile, they are slowly erasing the unique identity of Goa and Goans. It feels like RIP for Goa’s identity and Goenkarponn.
