It has been more than a year since the visit of the KTC Chairman to the KTC Bus Terminus in Margao to see into its development. This bus terminus warrants a better structure than the present one which appears more like a cow shed. During the monsoon season cattle share space with commuters. Due to the wind, rain pours into the bus stand in all directions prompting commuters to stand in dry spots. Various suburban bus depots are found to be better designed than the Margao bus terminus. Take for example Cuncolim and Canacona in South Goa and Bicholim and Marcel in North Goa. Margao, however, boasts of a state of the art KRC train station which is currently undergoing further development. To the credit of the planners of the Margao bus terminus, they placed the toilet block separately from the main passenger zone. It would be favorable to have a staggered development of the bus stand instead of a single massive unit as seen at Panaji bus stand. This makes sense from security point of view as well as decongesting the area. The canteen and office blocks look dilapidated and require a facelift.
