The beaches of Benaulim, Varca and Fatrade have been witnessing a lot of stray cattle over the past three years which are a danger to all beachgoers. Add to that buffaloes and dhirio bulls being brought by farmers for their evening wash and you have a recipe for disaster (and we are not even talking about feral dogs which roam all over and hound people). Not only have sharp horned cattle attacked tourists but they also refuse to move out of the way once the group sits down in the sand to chew cud, the less said about their littering the place with dung the better. Village panchayat authorities should take serious cognisance of the matter and round up the strays in addition to penalising farmers who bring their cattle to the beach for ablutions.
