A big tree in front of the Mapusa market had uprooted during the last monsoon and fallen in the parking area of private cars and the passenger rickshaw stand, right outside the main gate of the market. Although the branches of the tree have been cut and disposed of, the fat trunk and the root of the tree are still lying there for several months now causing much inconvenience to the people. These also should be cut and disposed of by the Mapusa municipality in order to restore the area for the parking of vehicles and the rickshaw stand.
Is a mega swearing-in ceremony justified?
A grand mega ceremony of the swearing-in of the new Goa government has been planned for Monday, March 28. lt is reported that the function will be attended by Prime Minister, Home Minister, other central ministers and 7 state chief ministers besides other dignitaries. For this purpose multi-layered security for top leaders has been arranged including bringing in 6 bulletproof and jammer vehicles from outside Goa. Needless to say, all the attendees will also be provided food and refreshments. Further SOPs for Covid will go for a toss.
So many swearing-in ceremonies of the ministry have been held in Goa in the past, but they have been simple. It defies all understanding and logic what is so special this time to have an unprecedented mega ceremony when the BJP did not even get an absolute majority on its own but will form the government with the help of another party and independents.
Above all things, it is well known to all that the State economy is in very bad shape and the government has taken huge loans to tide over the bad situation. In the face of this to have such an extravagant and mega ceremony at public expense is very unfair and sheer preposterous and madness.
