When one travels from Mapusa to Panaji, on the way to Porvorim, a huge road project is under construction. To my surprise, I have noticed that the contractor’s or the PWD’s advertising board does not mention the Department of PWD (PHEN) or Roads, or any other company with a proper address. Will the government authorities look into the advertisement to ensure that proper details are mentioned on the board?
Or is the government hiding due to fear of poor work execution, which is evident in the many road surface failures around Goa, such as cracking, sinking, flooding, and landslides? We can only blame the rain gods, but is this acceptable for Goa, which receives an average of over 80 inches of rain every year? Are roads being constructed for a drought-like season, or is the TCP ministry preparing a roadmap for such conditions to occur in Goa soon, leaving the next generation to face the consequences?
