In recent times, mangalsutra, mobile and gold chain snatching cases are on the rise. The culprits who come on two-wheelers snatch these items with ease and flee from the scene within no time. On most occasions, they cover the number plate of the vehicle so that their details are unavailable to the public. Recently, a cell phone was snatched from the hands of a 24-year-old woman at Nessai in Salcete by unknown youths. The woman was walking with the cell phone in her hand making it easy for the snatchers to steal it. A similar incident had occurred at Calconda a few days before. It is very much essential for the females to remain alert while carrying valuables with them. More care should be taken while walking along lonely roads and also isolated spots. It is a common practice with young girls and women to hold cell phones in their hands even after possessing a purse or a bag on their person. It would be advantageous if such valuable items are kept inside the purse so that they remain safe. Culprits get lured on viewing the valuables in the open. Even the mangalsutras should not be worn in a totally exposed condition. Women need to take great care so that they protect their valuables while moving in public places.
