Goa is blessed with several freshwater springs, but many of these are lying in precarious condition. One among them is the famous Pomburpa spring known for its medicinal water. What is of concern is that on the left side (inside the wall) the water has clogged and contains mixed debris. One can see heavy growth of bushes in the area. The water seeps out through the cracks in the wall. The water seepage will eventually weaken the wall and it may collapse. Secondly, the spring lies in a very unhygienic condition. It doesn’t look like a place for tourists to visit because the concept of responsible tourism at the spring site is dead. If attention is not paid to this beautiful spot, it will decay as time passes by. The authority concerned needs to rise and stem the rot at the earliest.
