The AAP election manifesto is out. One can of course look through the manifesto and conclude that all the 13 points will remain on paper only. The entire term of five years will pass without any concrete action and the people wouldn't be any better for it.
Over the years, election after election, in state after state, parties have resorted to this strategy of offering something free or even cash in order to gain votes. In fact, we should do away with this freebie culture. We should demand benefits that are rightly due, for the taxes that we pay to the government. Instead of promising free electricity or water or promising good roads, etc, ideally the most important promise any party could offer, is good governance and zero tolerance towards corruption. If anybody can do this, everything else will fall in place. Love of God & love of neighbour --- AAP's manifesto or the manifesto of any other party must be summarised in just those two points. But in the meanwhile, we will continue to make a mockery of our democracy by this practice of freebies and party hopping! Long live our democracy!
