Two constables who were performing nakabandi duty at Seraulim junction were reportedly killed in a tragic accident when a local who was in a drunken state recklessly rammed his car into their police check post recently. Well, it's an open secret that today most roads accidents are caused due to drunken driving in Goa but who really cares? People think that it's fashion to drink & drive in Goa.
The worse thing is that our respective governments are seen giving licenses & allowing individuals (including outsiders) to open up more and more liquor shops in every nook and corner of our state. l think that if the cops from the traffic cell really want to save precious lives in the state then instead of harassing only those for not wearing helmets, they should henceforth start arresting those who are found indulging in drunken driving almost everywhere in Goa. Their driving licenses too should be permanently suspended and if possible such irresponsible people should be made to rot in prison for life and forced to pay huge compensation to the families of their road accident victims.
