The rape and murder of the Kolkata doctor has roused the collective consciousness of the entire nation. Every lurid detail of the rape and murder has been sensationalized and made viral on social media . The 'Kolkata rape and murder video' has become the 'most trending search ' on Google! There is something seriously wrong in the DNA of the Indian male, which is not only very disturbing but also causing alarm to the Indian diaspora . Indians abroad are being looked at with suspicion, bordering on disgust. Alarmed at the deviant attitude, the Supreme Court has directed the removal of all pictures and videos disclosing the identity and body of the doctor who was raped and murdered in RG Kar Hospital. In Muslim countries, rapists are executed summarily. We need to fast track all rape cases so that justice is awarded within 6 months of the crime, while the case is still fresh. Justice delayed is justice denied. I also suggest that there should be a 3-digit emergency number to report rapes. The complaint should be escalated to the local police station, which should immediately dispatch a police official along with a female cop to the residence of the complainant. The FIR must be lodged at the complainant's residence and not at the police station.
