Although cleanliness plays a significant role in our day to day lives, we still come across people dumping garbage along roadsides, drains and nullahs, thereby turning the concerned locations unhygienic for precious human lives. Under such circumstances, the very basis of ‘Swachcha Goa Mission’ tends to be defeated in the process. Municipalities and village panchayats in the state often undertake cleanliness drives at the respective jurisdictions from time to time. Still no positive results seem to be in the limelight. Seen in the picture is garbage scattered along the Dhawali road in Ponda in the vicinity of Tip Top Mansion. Of course, regular clearance of dumped garbage gains utmost importance. It is required for the concerned authorities at the above jurisdiction to clear the scattered garbage on priority basis so that cleanliness is achieved before the existing situation turns from bad to worse. Let us hope that necessary favourable action would follow in public interest.
