NGOs must lift stray dogs for sterilisation

Some NGOs are indeed performing  best in Goa for sterilizing stray dogs.   As the stray dog population proliferates in Goa, precipitating several canine attacks, legislators across party lines expressed alarm, making CM Pramod Sawant promise a policy in two to three months to tackle the menace. But as a primary measure I urge CM to direct all NGOs to lift all stray dogs for sterilization without delay. Some funds may be sanctioned to them, even Panchayats and municipalities may be instructed to pay some amount per stray dog. Sometimes even a caller is ready to pay some amounts to NGO personnel willingly. Data released in the assembly showed that 19 attacks by stray dogs have occurred on Goa’s beaches since 2022. However, cases of bites and attacks could be more in villages. With the stray dog population going out of control,  not only Goa’s tourism will face serious ramification, but people at large. Direct all  NGOs to lift all stray dogs and cats on public calls or voluntarily with the assistance of Village Panchayats and municipalities. And importantly, if possible formulate one stray dogs and cats helpline.

I request the Transport Minister Mauvin Godinho, CM/PWD Minister Pramod Sawant to immediately address the roads in Colva, which have potholes in so many places and speed breaker signs are  washed out.   The portion particularly at the Colva Church/School area  is horrible to say the least.... the stop signs/speed breakers washed out) are hardly visible and are extremely hazardous to drivers and people/children crossing at this place.  Hope the Goa…
