A stone throw away from the Pomburpa ferry wharf there is a traditional rain drain which was flowing through the residential houses into the river.
Some years back due to its dilapidated condition it collapsed and got buried in the dumps and overgrown vegetation. The water has now stagnated and the stink is unbearable for the residents around which may cause a health hazard. In the interest of the residents a representation was made to the Village Panchayat of Pomburpa and Health Officer, Aldona, but there is nothing positive till date.
Health hazard happens not when authorities have no information about it, but when the concerned officials are notified and still no action is taken and then authorities are solely to be blamed. In this hour of crisis, the said authority should look into the matter on priority. Just coming out with slogans like Swachh Bharat, Nithol Goem will not make Goa clean.
