Goa’s destiny seems to be hijacked by traders

There are distinct signals showing that Goa’s destiny is not in the hands of locals. Putting all eggs in one basket was disastrous for Goa but we do not learn. First it was mining and then tourism during the pandemic which proved this.

The Entertainment City at Pernem, 5 Km from Mopa airport, is a replica of Genting, Malaysia. Note how land has been acquired by the Govt and given to a single casino owner with no tendering. Then we see the loans being given to start hinterland tourism.. Now, despite evidence that the vax wanes in 6 months, with even health workers in Maharashtra resorting illegally to booster doses, Goa is opening, based solely on the vax dose. The message being sent is that tourism and Goa will always be open at any cost. A viral video of what happened in the CM’s constituency is another signal of what is to come. The favoured traders of the BJP are being given Goa to be turned into another Pattaya.

Of late one comes across several videos and photos on social media of citizens filling up potholes on the roads in their locality with stones and rubble.
