Now even cops unsafe from rowdy migrants

Two Cuncolim police constables were allegedly attacked by a group of migrant workers who pelted stones and assaulted them with kicks, fist blows while on duty thereby causing serious injuries. Police have booked four accused for attempted murder and taken them into custody. An FIR has been registered under relevant sections and further investigations are in progress. This is probably the first instance when police personnel in the state have been assaulted so badly and that too by migrants. Forget the citizens, in Goa even the police do not appear to be safe from rowdy migrants. There is no respect shown by the migrants to the men-in-uniform. There is no fear of the law. This may, in a way, be the undoing of the police force who could be treating criminals from other states with kid-gloves. It may be recalled that some days back armed men with swords, knives and guns descended on the quiet Mungul stretch, leaving two young men bloodied and a car riddled with bullet holes. The gang-war menace needs to be nipped in the bud before Goa goes the way of Bihar.
