The Miramar Promenade, developed at great cost by the Goa Government, is one of Panaji’s finest attractions, drawing locals, tourists and senior citizens who enjoy its pleasant climate and scenic views. However, the area is increasingly being spoiled by some dog owners who allow their pets to defecate along the walkway. From the Miramar entrance up to the Panaji ferry point, the promenade is often littered with dog waste, making it unpleasant for walkers.
It is suggested that signboards be installed stating: “Walking of dogs on the promenade is prohibited. Owners will be liable to clean up and face penalty costs.” There are also too many stray dogs posing a risk to visitors. Authorities are urged to deploy a dog squad to address this problem. In addition, there are no public toilets along the entire stretch, which causes inconvenience, especially for tourists and senior citizens. Security cameras should also be installed to prevent anti-social activities. Implementing these simple steps will help keep the Miramar Promenade clean, safe, and enjoyable for everyone.
