There are several questions about the source of earnings of Sarpanchas and panchas, their lavish lifestyles, and their readiness to work on such measly salaries and responsibilities, when even Class 4 employees in government service are drawing more than twice their salaries.
Their lavish lifestyle and wealth, disproportionate to their salaries, certainly call for a thorough probe by agencies like the Enforcement Directorate. On the other hand, questions also arise as to how our elected members become crorepatis after completing just one term in office.
