Rama Kankonkar, who was recently discharged from hospital after a brutal attack about three weeks ago, has publicly alleged that CM and Home Minister Pramod Sawant and Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte could be the masterminds behind it. While the truth is yet to come out, the BJP government needs to answer some important questions. When Rama, a known activist, had complained to the police earlier, why did the Police or the Home Ministry not take preventive action? Where is the apology or acknowledgment from the Chief Minister or Home Minister for this lapse?
Can the BJP clarify whether there was any connection between the ministers named and any of the attackers involved? How could the Goa Police claim so early that the attack was due to personal enmity, when the Chief Minister had said investigations were still ongoing? Did the Home Minister act against the DGP for this contradiction? How was Rama’s statement leaked to the media while the attackers’ statements were not? Who released it, and what action has been taken? Now that Rama has named the Chief Minister and Home Minister, can the Goa Police conduct a fair investigation?
