Recentlythe CM Pramod Sawant stated that it was difficult to provide government jobs toall Goan citizens. He even went to the extent of saying that even for God thiswill not be possible. Everyone knows, it is a general practice for rulingpoliticians to provide government jobs only to persons of their choiceincluding their family members, relatives, friends and also the ultimate voterswho remain close to them on regular basis. However talented and efficient thecandidates may be, they will not secure a government job. Young girls from poorfamilies, who really shoulder great responsibility of looking after their agedparents, arrange money for their marriage expenses and also support theirfamily members, are not provided such jobs. This is only because they lackinfluence and are unable to pay the necessary amount (of course, in lakhs) toget such jobs. Over the years the motto of ‘one job per family’ has remainedmerely on paper and politicians always remain at the front to offer governmentjobs to almost four and even five persons from the same family. The stateadministration remains a silent spectator and fails to initiate appropriateaction against politicians who flout the principle of ‘one job per family’. Hadthe politicians strictly followed this worthy principle, many more aspirantsfrom other families would have benefited in securing government jobs.
