Panaji’s colour-coded buses the way forward

This is with reference to the news report 'KTCL's colour-coded buses to operate from April 1' (TGE, March 14). Panaji is all set for a plush public transport system from April with the new integrated public transport system to be operated from Panaji bus stand to surrounding areas by the KTC and Imagine Panaji Smart City Development Limited.

Hopefully it will end the hegemony of private bus operators and bring in a new era of civilised form of commuting by buses -- no more overcrowding, no over-charging, no delays and no picking up of passengers or dropping them midway between bus stops.

It is hoped that these services will soon be extended to other routes in the State by the KTC where bus travel is the only way out in the absence of affordable means vis-a-vis taxis and auto rickshaws.
