Party hoppers must be offered a one-way ticket

The state has witnessed various party poppers and party hoppers recently before the elections.

Party hopping happens because parties do not have stringent norms in place. They could have a 'better or for worse' clause like marriage. They could also offer party hoppers a one-way ticket. No return to the party till the next election. Parties can also claim the election deposit from the candidate which they will stand to lose if they leave abruptly. The amount can be used to field another candidate.

Party hoppers for their part must avail of a return ticket before hopping. If they get stuck in transit or the recipient party suddenly turns hostile, they could be in for a rude shock and be left high and dry! Return tickets are generally more economical than a one-way ticket and can prove beneficial during the present covid scenario. Party poppers are those who have stood loyally by their given parties through thick and thin. Their parties should give them a preference over others. It is they who should be given the privilege of popping a champagne bottle at every party win. It is important also that parties in general cater to various tastes. Otherwise, people may be tempted to jump parties to those offering a better menu.
